Program Overview:

The Access English Scholarship Program, funded by the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, provides a foundation of English language skills to bright, economically disadvantaged students through after school and weekend classes. The program aims to empower youth with enhanced English proficiency, critical thinking, and leadership skills to better access future academic and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interactive and engaging English language classes for Access students on weekends (Friday and/or Saturday).
  • Prepare lesson plans aligned with the program’s curriculum, incorporating modern, student centered methodologies.
  • Foster an inclusive and participatory learning environment that supports the linguistic, academic, and personal development of students.
  • Use a variety of multimedia, real-life contexts, and culturally relevant materials to promote effective English language learning.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress through assignments, quizzes, and classroom activities.
  • Maintain regular attendance records, lesson logs, and student assessments in line with program requirements.
  • Provide support during program-related events such as enhancement activities, U.S. culture sessions, and camps.
  • Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and other teachers to ensure consistency and quality of delivery.
  • Participate in teacher training workshops organized by the implementing organization or U.S. Embassy.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in English, Education, TESOL/TEFL, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in teaching English, preferably to teenagers or young learners.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.
  • Proven skills in interactive teaching methods and classroom management.
  • Experience working with marginalized or underprivileged youth is highly desirable.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and attend training or meetings as scheduled.
  • Passion for teaching, mentoring, and youth development.
